So Proud of Our Staff!!

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

I really should be doing something else right now. Like many of you all I am really, really running behind on all of the “to do’s”.  Is Christmas really tomorrow?  Now is the time I can finally start crossing some stuff off that long list, but I just have to take a moment in the middle of this busy day to say how proud I am of our A#1 employees!

We’re blessed to have some of the most giving and selfless people that work for our company. The winner of our Holdiay Comfort giveaway has been announced and we are all planning how we will surprise the family. We prepped and delivered all of our donantions and gift basket items to Holiday Comfort winners.  Our staff went above and beyond dontating items for 12 Huge gift baskets to be given away in addition to the to the free AC/heating system and Walmart, Boston Market and Toys-R-Us gift cards our company is giving. One of our technicians dressed-up as Santa and went out with our other staff members in Santa hats and reindeer ears to sing carols to our prize winners. We had other staff members donating their personal time to go check the heating of the people that did not win the grand prize of a new system to try to at least make sure they had heat before the Christmas Eve cold snap. Giving Holiday Comfort – Nominate a Deserving Family

The holiday season is soon upon us. Scratch that… The holiday season is HERE!

It seems most moms I know all want the fantasy of the Norman Rockwell, homey, and meaningful holiday with our families. For most of us moms, it means running crazy at the malls and trying to figure out what to get for everyone on the list (most of whom have all they really need). There is the pressure to bake cookies for the cookie swap. That sounds like a nice party but I never get around to it. I am too busy trying to find the right gag gift for another party or searching for new recipes that I will probably never get around to making.

We moms even put pressure on ourselves to make the gifts look like masterpieces. I spend hours wrapping mounds of presents, even presents to myself! Either I am the only one in my house who can wrap “pretty”, or maybe I have a few “control” issues, and I labor under the delusion that all the gifts need to look like they could be on a magazine cover! I live in a house with three boys, and no one really cares about the wrapping paper… It is just one of those things we moms do to ourselves and then feel guilty.

The holidays are supposed to mean something more, and that “meaning” seems to get lost in the hustle and bustle of “should-dos” and “to-dos”. It sometimes seems like it is up to us to make it all happen, and most of the time the things we focused on aren’t what really gets remembered anyway (ironic, huh?). I read a quote in the Better Homes and Gardens August 2009 issue and even though it wasn’t about the holidays it really does apply to this season. (more…)
